Messages in the Moonlight - Updates

Site Updates

~Update 22 August 2010~
Over the past few weeks I have been updating information on the site. The only pages that were not touched were those not written or compiled by myself. Some changes are minimal, adding only tidbits of information. Other pages, such as the Pentacle page, have undergone total revamping. These changes have been needed for a long time. Over the years, I've been so focused on adding new pages or trying to network to get the site more visible on the internet that I had not stopped to realize just how little information some of the pages contained. Hopefully, these updates will have provided the extra information to fill in the gaps and make sense of the hodgepodge of tidbits that made up this site. Please feel free to let me know what you think of the updates. Also, don't hesitate to speak up if anything is still too vague.
Blessings, Evy

~Update 04 July 2010~
Messages in the Moonlight now has a Facebook fan page! The fan page is brand new so there are still some modifications going on. If you're a fan of the site and have a Facebook account, become a fan of the Facebook page as well!
Blessings, Evy

~Update 02 July 2010~
As I had mentioned during the transition of this website from free Geocities to paid freeservers, I have set up a page for donations. As mentioned before, donations as little as $1 are acceptable. Donations are not expected, and although they are highly appreciated, I will never coerce or demand anyone to make any donation to the site whatsoever. We are not a charity. Therefore, donations are not tax-deductible. This page and option were created on behalf of those who have demonstrated an interest in helping to cover costs. If you are interested finding out more or making a donation, please see the Donation Information page. Thanks for all of your support, monetary or otherwise!

~Update 04 April 2010~
As some of you may have noticed, I have not sent out any recent issues of the newsletter. This is due to a lack of submissions. I have not received anything for the newsletter for months. Because of this, I will be putting the newsletter on a hiatus. Once interest enough interest in sending in submissions has resumed, the newsletter will be back. In the meantime, feel free to check out the newsletter archives to read past issues. If you are inspired to send in submissions, please be sure to send them to evylyn_rose@yahoo.com with the subject "Newsletter Submission." For more information on submissions, please see the Newsletter page.

~Update 31 January 2010~
I have added a new page to the Wiccan Basics section. Advice for Beginners gives some basic advice that is commonly given to newcomers seeking answers to their questions regarding Wicca. This is by far not an all-encompassing article, but the advice is valuable for beginners trying to find their way. This page, like the Basics of Wicca page, will likely go through many modifications over the years. Be sure to read the article and check back later for any new updates!
Blessings, Evy

~Update 23 January 2010~
I've gone through and updated links on the site to clear out any that weren't working. I've also added a new link to Sonoran Bloom. I'm working on starting up a new business with Nopalea, an antioxidant-rich anti-inflammatory juice, as the main product. The goal of the business is to improve wellness, starting with physical health. This is a wonderful product. Be sure to check out the site to learn more and feel free to contact me with any questions! Keep in mind that any earnings from the business will be used to help support this site!
In other news, despite full-time work, school, and this new business, I have been doing my best to try to keep active in the forums. I find myself losing motivation from the lack of participation at the boards, but recently realized that I'm never around when new, motivated members sign up. I intend to ensure that never happens again by checking in regularly and responding to any posts or messages in a timely manner. I hope that this will greatly improve the community and bring it back to friendly and informative quality it used to be. I hope to see you all there!
Blessings, Evy

2009 Updates

~Update 07 September 2009~
I've added a Share/Bookmark button on each page containing info. This lets you bookmark or share the page on multiple social sites like Facebook and others. If there's any pages without the button that you feel should have one, please let me know!
I had been meaning to make a sitemap for the site for several years now. I finally made one. The sitemap page also includes a search box to search for anything within the site. Extra features include an advanced search, another sitemap (I don't like the layout), and an index.
Be sure to check back for more updates in the future!
Blessings, Evy

~Update 10 May 2009~
As you can see, the Updates page has returned to the old format. As much as I liked the layout of using a blog instead, this will have to do for now.
We've completely moved to the new server and domain. All links should no longer point to the GeoCitites server. Instead, everything should point to moonlightmessages.com and evylynrose[at]moonlightmessages.com is the new email address associated with the site. If any links are not working or point to the old server, please let me know. The old GeoCities site will remain in place until GeoCities shuts down for good, but no further updates or changes will take place there.
I've been trying to clean up some little tidbits here and there during this transition to make it more worthwhile. You should notice that the annoying line that plagued the website is finally gone. During the move, I found that I still had the code for a background image that was not there. I've also been able to go through and clean out some links and such. I've done away with the section of links for sites that are no longer around.
Other little changes have and will take place. From here on out, the process will be slower due to a lack of free time on my part for awhile, but I will do my best. If you happen to see a website or such that has a link to Messages in the Moonlight with the old GeoCities URL, please let me know so I can have it changed.

I haven't been receiving submissions for the newsletter without having to bother subscribers with a last minute announcement before each issue. I've decided this is unnecessary. I will continue accepting submissions and even have a theme in place for the next issue of the newsletter. However, I have not set a due date at this time. While I will still aim for the summer solsitice as usual, if I do not receive at least a few submissions by that time, I will not release an issue until I do. This is a community effort based newsletter. Without the community effort, there's not much of anything to show for it.
So if you'd like to see the newsletter continue send in a submission today! If you have any questions, concerns, ideas, et cetera, don't hesistate to shoot me an email and let me know!
Also, there's a cleanup going on at the message boards so if you're a member, make sure you respond before the 15th!

2008 Updates

~Entry for December 25, 2008~
I've added a page to the Wiccan Basics section. Interpreting the Credo goes through and interprets each couplet of the Credo that I personally use. These are my interpretations and, as such, may not be shared by everyone. However, it is there for anyone who would like a more indepth view of the Credo.
Also, last month I added reviews for two books to the Book Review page. I'm most of the way through a third, so be on the look out for it in the near future. There's also a possibility of a revamp for the book reviews. As I add more to the list, it seems a little long. I'm thinking of breaking it down into categories for the ease of finding specific books. If you have any suggestions, don't hesitate to send me an email!
Information for the next issue of the newsletter has been updated. I hope you enjoyed the Winter Solstice issue. Feel free to send in your submissions today!

Just thought I'd let you know I went through and edited all the nasty little misspelled words. A good more than half of it were merely typos, but it goes to show how terrible my spelling was without my knowing (and my lack of ever running any of my webpages through a spell checker). Of course, my browser's spellchecker had to learn some words too. I understood with the Pagan terms, but I laughed as words like "webpage" or "chatroom" or "hotmail" didn't register as proper even though it is an internet browser. (Oh, another good one. Earlier it picked up that "didnt" should be "didn't", but just now it tried to tell me the "didn" part was wrong. XD )
I also went through and added meta tags for better search engine... searchiness. Of course, you can't see that, so you probably don't care. ;)
By the way, I'd just like to point out that should you ever notice a misspelled word or any information you think may be wrong, don't hesitate to shoot me an email. I encourage feedback. Feedback is what helps me to figure out what the site needs and I want it to be the best that it can be.

The Summer Solstice issue of the newsletter came out today. I hope you enjoyed it! As such, I've updated the Newsletter page to reflect the info for the next issue. Be sure to check it out and send in any submissions you'd like to see included!
Also, I've updated the discussion and assignment for the study group at the boards. Be sure to check it out to see if you're interested if you're not already participating.

Just wanted to let you all know that I added my review for Kerr Cuhulain's Full Contact Magick on the book review page.
I also joined some webrings which you can find on the webring page. Be sure to check them out when you have a chance.

If you've been to the boards recently, you'll notice that some things appear out of place, are missing, have changed, or what was there and deleted awhile back (ie: members during last clean-up) has suddenly reappeared. There were some server issues this past week and Proboards Support is doing everything they can to solve this problem. We are not the only ones with these problems (reversion back to mid-April plus some weird tidbits).
If it aggravates you, annoys you, or whathaveyou, then please just be patient, and I'll be sure to post another message here when everything is back to normal. The Study Group will be put on hold until everything is restored. Sorry for the inconvience.

The boards are back to normal. If anything still seems out of place, is missing, or otherwise "wrong" let me know so I can look into it.
I also want to note that I added a new page to the Wiccan Basics section. The Law of Return page is an article that gives some explainations and examples of the Law of Return as well as try to bring understanding to the many different perspectives of this core belief in Wicca.

I fixed a few things on the Dowsing page as well as reorganized the Scrying page. Also, I went and "tweaked" the Terms page adding a couple words. So just a few little things and nothing major for now.
I'm trying to get things together now to figure out what kinds of updates the site needs. If you should have any suggestions of anything you'd like to see on the site that isn't there or simply needs to be fixed or changed, shoot me an email or stop by the boards. You can leave messages as a guest. ;)

I fixed some link issues on the Awards & Webrings page. Sorry about the clutter that caused if you bumbed into it. Also updated a couple things on the Book Review page.
As I do every couple years, I went back to the Basics of Wicca page and updated it. For the most part, I usually just go back over wording. What may have sounded like it fit the point I was trying to make years ago, I tend to come to realize needs some tweeking to be more clearly understood. Also, I'll add in tidbits if what I said previously was just a bit too narrow. This time go 'round, I actually added another portion to the Myths section. Since the last time I updated it, it was a joke that I always seemed to get tagged with from non-Pagan friends, and so I thought maybe it was worth pointing out.
Other than that, I edited some typoes here and there, and I'm sure there's plenty more I've still yet to come across. If you find them before I do, let me know. ;) Hopefully I'll get some more updates soon!

I went ahead and changed the chat room again. I'm now using the one that is offered through Proboards.com instead of mIRC. The reason being that it seems everytime I'm gone for awhile there ends up being server issues and I have to switch servers. This time, I know it'll always be there and can easily be accessed either through the index page of this site or through the nav bar under the title of the forums. Guests are welcome to join in the chat as well. Feel free to stop in today!
I also wanted to add in that I've gone ahead and started with the Study Group I've been talking about for nearly a year now. If you wish to participate, hurry over now!

I've gone through to clean and update the links pages. Also, since the last issue of the newsletter didn't make it out, I'm keeping the theme and path question the same for the Summer Solstice issue. Please send in your submissions today!
You'll also find there's a new page! The Pagan-related News page has a live feed from Simple Magick where you can find news that is relevant to the Pagan community. Be sure to check it often!
I'm hoping to have more time on my hands now that I'm starting a new chapter in my life. Look forward to more updates and more activity at the boards!

2007 Updates

Just wanted to let you know the information for the next issue of the newsletter is up. I hope you enjoyed the most recent issue! Send in your submissions for next issue today!

I updated the books review page again. Be sure to check out the review for "The Complete Idiot's Guide to Wicca and Witchcraft."
Also, I wanted to put out that I've got a section at the boards started for a study group. If you're interested, check it out now. It's in the brainstorming stage right now, so if you want a study group that's molded to you, now's the time to jump in! Check it out at the boards!

Updated the books review page again. I finally finished Curott's "Witchcrafting" (which I would definitely recommend!) and am now starting "The Complete Idiot's Guide to Wicca and Witchcraft."
Also wanted to point out that there's a clean-up at the message boards, so if you're a member, be sure to reply to the email or thread. If you're not, feel free to sign up and join the group!

Just wanted to note that I went through and cleaned up the links pages. Also, I decided to break down all the links that I had in the old "Awards, Webrings, & Links" section. The links pages (which include Pagan Links, Other Links, Plugboard, and Guests' Links) all have their own page. The voting page is now back to being on its own again. This leaves the awards, webrings, et cetera to be left for the Awards & Webrings page.
Also, for those of you that frequent the message boards, you'll notice that I went and cleaned up old threads and links. Any other changes are noted there.
Hopefully all this cleaning and rearranging makes the site easier to navigate. Let me know if I missed anything!

Just wanted to let you all know I updated the information for the next issue of the newsletter on the Newsletter page. I hope that everyone who received the last issue enjoyed it! I look forward to getting together the next one!

Just added more jokes to the Pagan Humor Page. Be sure to check it out if you need a laugh. Enjoy!
Also, I'd like to throw an additional thanks out there to those of you who have sent in submissions for the newsletter! The next issue is finally starting to come along. If you still have anything you'd like to send it, it's not too late!

I've added a new Top 100 to the Vote Booth. Be sure to vote for us!
Also, I'm trying out a new Plug Board to try and encourage traffic exchange. Not sure how well it's going to work out, but I'm going to give it a go for now. If you have a website, Pagan or not, feel free to add your banner today!

I'm being a good little Wiccan and picking back up on my reading... I just added my review for "The Body Sacred" by Dianne Sylvan. An excellent read and I would suggest it for any woman on a Wiccan, or otherwise Goddess-oriented path. Honestly, there are issues brought up in the book that I would suggest it to any woman no matter what, but without any sort of background with Paganism, some concepts will be difficult to grasp. I would still absolutely recommend it!
Also, just want to put out there that I'm getting the next issue of the newsletter put together now. The deadline isn't until the 18th, but since I'll be on leave then, I'd like to get as much put together and finetuned before the 16th if I can. So if you've got anything you want to send it, be sure to do so today!
Blessings, Evy

I've updated the book reviews page again. I just added "The Truth About Witchcraft Today" by Scott Cunningham. I also forgot to post a blog for the update that added "The Well of Understanding."
Still looking for submissions for the Summer Solstice issue of the newsletter. Be sure to send something in today!

The updates haven't been coming along quite as quickly as hoped. It's been a busy year...
I decided to use the new (or at least new to me) Geocities blog option for the Updates Page. I may go back to the old set up, but I figured I'd give this a try and see how it goes. I was thinking that this will give a more interactive feel for the Updates page so that I can get feedback on any updates or changes made to the site as time goes on. So feel free to speak your mind on anything brought up as far as changes/updates go here.
I finally added the review for Maria Kay Simms' Moon Tides, Soul Passages to the book reviews page. It took me far longer to get through the book than I had first imagined. I didn't realize just how busy I've been.
My appologies for the lack of a Yule newsletter. I did not receive any submissions and was not able to get one put together in time. I'm hoping we can get one rolling soon. Don't hesitate to send anything in in the meantime.
Blessings, Evy

2006 Updates

~Update October 14th 2006~
The Webrings page has been updated. Webring.com sucks now. I'll be looking into other webring hosts in the future. I also went through and cleaned up the Links pages. Blessings, Evy

~Update October 10th 2006~
I finally completed all of my training in July. My household goods just came in last month and now I have internet access again! Slowly but surely I'm working on getting things rolling again. It may be awhile before I do anything with the site itself. However, I've begun accepting submissions for the newsletter again. I'm hoping to have an issue ready for Samhain. Let's pray I can get things squared away sooner than later. ;) Blessings, Evy

2005 Updates

~Update December 26th 2005~
I'm leaving for Army basic training soon and won't be updating the site for a couple months at least. Don't expect much changes throughout 2006, but there may be some small things here and there in the later half of the year. Blessings.

~Update December 4th 2005~
Never mind, BV Designs stinks. Apparently the person who made has no more time and interest in running it so all the bugs from the new version will never be fixed. So now you'll find the topsite list at Moonlight Messages Top 100. If this one doesn't work, I'll give up again... For now anyway.

~Update December 2nd 2005~
I'm trying to do a Top Site list again. The ones I've done in the past usually didn't work out so well. Reason being crappy hosts, really. This time I'm trying BV Designs Topsites. I haven't seen any issues coming from this host based on Topsites lists that I'm on. So, if you have your own Pagan site and wish to add it to the list, be sure to stop by Moonlight Messages Top 100 and join!

~Update November 29th 2005~
I finally got around to updating the Book Reviews page since finishing The Spiral Dance. Seeing as I've run out of books I haven't read until I can buy or otherwise come in contact with more, I'll probably just start going back and rereading the others again. So be sure to check the page from time to time incase I've updated my review on a book or two.
Also, and on a more important note I think, I added a new link to the Pagan Links page. I remember hearing something about the Darla Wynne case a couple years ago. Back then, we weren't hearing anything about the many wrongs the town has done to this woman. All the story was then was that she was having issues with drug dealers and she had to attend town council meetings to deal with it. There, they made an issue with her faith every single meeting rather then letting her get to her whole purpose of being there. From there it had sparked into much more. That's all there was when I lost track of the story. It's like there just stopped being so much publicity about it by the time things got really serious. Not enough media attention or a cover up? I don't really know. The point is, we know the story now. We need to bring it to public attention and let people know just what kinds of injustices are being faced right now. Darla is a brave woman. My thanks and prayers are going out to her for what she is doing, not just for herself, not just for our community, but for anybody who may be different from the "norm" in a particular area. That she has felt alone through all of this is horrible. We all should be there for her, letting her know we care and are willing to stand beside her. Please take the time to look into the case of Darla Wynne and pitch in whatever you can, whether it be donations or simply emotional support. More information can be found at Exploring the Cauldron.

~Update September 22nd 2005~
I added in a page discussing the actual history of Wicca, as I said I would. The Real History of Wicca explains what we know and presents some of the modern arguments over the details. Of course, I encourage everyone to do their own research to learn more (as I only briefly touch on the details) and grasp a better understanding of each argument I presented as well as come across any I've missed. Enjoy!

~Update September 15th 2005~
I fixed a couple terms on the Terms & Definitions page. I also added a rant I wrote a little while back to the Random Ramblings page.

~Update September 14th 2005~
Having a new perspective on the false history of Wicca, I've decided to add the page The History of Wicca: A Mythological Understanding to the site. It basically explains that while it has been disproven decades ago, it still has a place in Wicca (albeit a small one) as a mythological story and then tells one version of it. Eventually I'll add a page for the actual history of Wicca to go along with it. Also, I've gone ahead and updated the Books page, adding in my current thoughts of The Spiral Dance by Starhawk as I begin reading it (which happened to be what gave me the new perspective on the mythological history of Wicca). Also, I've slightly updated the Tools page adding in Clothing and Jewelry and modifying the opening paragraph.

~Update August 25th 2005~
I opened a Cafepress store. It's not really meant to be affiliated with this site, but I did list it on the Other Links page. Evy's Corner isn't anything big or special. It's really me just playing around with images I've made and a couple photographs I've taken. So far, I'm not sure how the photos will actually look on the finished product, but the purple pentacles should look fine, though rather plain on some items. There will be more when I stop being lazy and learn to do more things with PSP. I keep the prices pretty close to the base price. For some things I think Cafepress makes the base price a bit, well, pricey, but there's not much I can do about that. Take a look if you're interested, but I can't promise much.

~Update July 12th 2005~
Got bored and made a Toolbar on impulse. Download it here if you're interested (contact me if you have any questions).

~Update July 9th 2005~
I finally got around to adding copyright notices and a page with information on using material from this site. If you're interested in using any information from this site, please see Copyright Information. You'd think I would have done this forever ago. Oh well, at least it's done now.

~Update July 7th 2005~
A random thought occured to me that even though I change my pages as often as I remember to, I don't announce it on the site itself. A post at the boards about a new page really doesn't make much of a difference to anyone who doesn't go there. This is a good time to explain that I don't just add new pages to this site. In fact, I rarely do unless I randomly think to (like with this page here). Usually I go through the pages written by myself and alter them to reflect any new realizations I've come to. The page that has gone through the most changes since the beginning of this site is the Basics of Wicca page. For anyone who saw it way back when, you'll recall the uber fluffiness of it (mostly the wording did it, I think). If you're interested, you can find the original page at Myths and Reality (note the typoes for some extra laughs). I'll only add an update announcement when there's been a new page added, a page updated or changed, or some sort of reorganization that's important to note.
