Although I spend most days busy with my business, I'm still making little updates to MIM here and there. Most of these updates are me continuing to add book reviews (I'm not taking requests at this time because of excessive backlog), adding links to videos or relevant service offerings (please tell me if I'm every sounding grubby!), those visuals I keep saying I'll get around to, and the occasional swap-out of missing or outdated links to third-party resources.
But the big change today? I finally added some page navigation sections to every. single. page. While I'm sure this will cause me headaches later down the road, I know it's well worth it for improving the usefulness of this free resource.
When MIM was first created, we were all making use of these "previous page" and "next page" buttons in our fancy website templates. But when social media *cough*facebook*cough* broke the internet, the website structure headaches ensued as every major website tried to copy the same horrific navigational nightmare that the late internet adopters were learning as "the norm".
I've done my best over the years since to make navigation as clear and concise as possible. However, I took for granted that everyone landing on a single page of the website from anywhere else on the web would immediately know to use the navigation menu to find their way around.
Silly me. 😅
So, finally, I've brought back that wonderful navigational trick of having the "previous page" and "next page" buttons. Most pages within a section also feature a "section menu" button to get you back to the summary page of those sections. This made the most sense considering a lot of work went into the organization of the sections and pages within those sections. Although you don't have to go "from beginning to end", the navigation was designed with that tendency in mind.
Hopefully this will make your life easier in knowing where to go from wherever it is you started off.
